I'm okay with the other quotes.
Fight smart, not fair.It is a great quote, and I think it's better than the One Piece one but is about on the same level as the Bat man one. But's that's why we have the quotes subpage.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Actually, I think the Ducard one is better than Viv's suggestion if only because it shows within the quote how fanatical the sense of "justice" is. "Stabbing people in the heart" would almost definitely tend be regarded as Moral Dissonance, whereas "letting the world perish"; well, that might depend on whether or not the alternative is protecting a world that, if unjust enough, might be perceived as not worth protecting.
Come to think of it, now I'm inclined to suggesting putting all 3 in the quotes page and using the former Frollo one for the page quote instead of any of the other three; it much more clearly reflects the trope.
Viv's is better than the One Piece quote.
... but what about the Ducard quote, and what about the Clopin one about Frollo? Just to make clear, here's the latter:
->"Judge Claude Frollo longed to purge the world of vice and sin, and he saw corruption everywhere except within." —>- Clopin, from the Disney version of HoND
EDIT: Damn it, what's wrong with the quoting thing?

Quotes page, folks. That's what it's for — appropriate quotes beyond the one or two that are page quotes.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.You know, with as many good quotes as we have, we could just put them all in a crowner, vote, put the top two on the page and the rest on the quotes page. It would help us get the best quotes on the main page, and they'd still all ultimately be on the wiki.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI'm inclined to go with the Frollo one, if only because it most clearly represents the trope; evil thinking it's on the side of good. However, I suppose a crowner is in order.
Crowner made and hooked. If there's another one you'd like to add, please do so.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.How exactly does "let justice be done, though the world perish" demonstrate Knight Templar?
"I'm doing what's right, and fuck the world"
Fight smart, not fair.I figured it was more along the lines of "better to have no world at all than a severely unjust enough one." It does imply fanaticism, though doesn't seem to imply it as directly as the Ducard quote.
EDIT: I knew this thread had gone unbumped for a bit when I added that post, but I didn't realize that it went unbumped for more than a week. o.o
EDIT again: Also, there's a LOT of quotes on that quotes page. Should there be a few more crowner options?

I added the James Baldwin quote to the crowner, since that seems to illustrate the trope best of all the ones on the quote page. A Knight Templar is dangerous because they believe themselves to be good by definition, so therefore don't notice when they start doing evil things in the name of good.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. What about other quotes on the page, then? Anyone else have a good idea what demonstrates the trope?
I have one. I'll add it to the crowner. I'll also add it to the quotes page.

Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise. The Baldwin quote is Made Of Win because it really captures the essence of the Knight Templar. Pure fanaticism, an unassailable belief in their own righteousness and a stunning lack of self awareness.
That self-righteous assuredness in one's own purity makes one of the clearer deferentiators from Well-Intentioned Extremist.
Well, the Baldwin quote is ahead by 5 votes, (EDIT: now by 9 votes) with the next-closest option being a motto in Latin, (granted, its translation is in English, but all other things equal, something that's originally in English is preferable) and having 6 "nay" votes. (The Baldwin quote has just 1.) The next-closest after THAT is behind the leading option by 10 votes. (EDIT: Now by 16 votes.) Should we put the Baldwin one up, then?

So, are we going to go with the Baldwin one or not? o.o
It looks like consensus. Make sure that all the rest are on the quotes page and put it up.
