It started as a meme based on that photo of a boy playing the trumpet right in a miserable-looking girl's ears, using photoshop to stretch and bounce him in time with the music.
Here's a couple of my favorite ones from other Nintendo games.
But on the subject of Smash Bros. and memes, this one speaks to me on a deep level.◊

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Those two were made by the same guy who did the Gangplank one.
It's like he's really good at them :V
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaI still wanna see someone write an actual Luigi's Mansion/Castlevania crossover now. I'm very tempted to do it myself. This concept is hilarious.
Gimme a licensed crossover called Luigi's Castle! Luigi taking on Dracula's Castle with the help of a properly equipped Poltergust.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Dracula is public domain and the concept of a metroidvania in a castle is not copyrightable. Just as long as you don't use any art assets that too-closely resemble Castlevania's renditions of Dracula or his castle, knock yourself out.
I think tomorrow we're going to get that rock cover of the Sun and Moon Trainer theme from the Direct.
It's been 3000 years…[thump]

Somebody once told me the world was macaroni, I took a bite out of a treeGonna make a bold guess and say we're getting 9 more fighters.
While we don't have a picture of the current CSS, it's suppose to be filled out in a 10x7 grid (assuming Echeos are visible) with no room for a Random option. Adding 9 more characters gives us another row with an empty space for Random and a neat 10x8 layout.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I neglected to post this, but Imran Khan, a writer for Game Informer who's previously shown himself in the know, has made a handful of comments indicating that Square and Namco will get at least one new character apiece.
I want to see Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden, for some reason, even though he's really unlikely at this stage.
Probably because I want to hear a Smash rendition of Unbreakable Determination.
Geno and Lloyd (or Heihachi) ahoy, I guess.
It's been 3000 years…Caim and Reiji Arisu confirmed.
Bleye knows Sabers. Is he suggesting that there will be more Square & Namco characters? The tone of those posts makes it sound more like wishlisting than leaking to me.
Going off-topic here, but this thread moves fast, and I've never been able to come in soon enough after someone asks about pipe dream characters, so I'm gonna go ahead and chime in on that now.
I'd love to see Kalas (or maybe Sagi) from Baten Kaitos. There's some decent potential there with all the flashy special attacks, although I haven't put much thought into actual moveset ideas. But...yeah, it's firmly in pipe dream territory. I was just happy to see that one music track in Smash 4.
I'd also love to see Neku, who's not quite as much of a long shot but still isn't anywhere near likely. His game was on the DS originally, and he has a ton of moveset potential.
...Also there are jokes to be made about the adventure mode speculation stuff, but I'm not gonna make them. :P
Going off that topic and into more plausible territory...people keep mentioning Rex and Pyra, which I'd love to see, but only a few of you have mentioned a stance shift kind of system with Mythra swapping out for Pyra. Someone mentioned it a few pages back, so that's why I'm bringing it up, but...like I said, the thread moves fast. I won't go into details, but she shows up relatively early, and you can swap between the two of them freely once you get far enough into the game, so I don't think there's any reason to leave her out of it. I could see Rex's specials looking different and having different properties depending on which of them is active (although his base attacks would probably stay the same) and they could have different Final Smashes.

A Baten Kaitos character is a lot more likely than a World Ends With You character. Hell, they even have wings. Unfortunate that it would end up being another sword fighter...
Bleye knows Sabers.I'm hoping for that, it would be our first real "stance-change fighter" character. Be his own Echo Fighter at the press of a button, instead of changing to a whole separate fighter like Pokemon Trainer does.
Though that leaves the name up for debate. "Rex, Pyra, and Mythra" is a bit of a mouthful so it might be best to just shorten it to "Rex", even if that snubs his harem.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Yet another "fist" fighter would be better...
How about another hammer fighter...
Or Chun-Li...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I thought we were past the point of complaining about non-Fire Emblem sword characters.
Ugh, why do I keep reminding that "Die monster you don't belong in this world!" while hammy, is less accurate compared to "Begone, you don't belong in this world, monster!" which people likes to say Never Say "Die". It doesn't even makes sense since the game outright spelling Death and Death's Scythe. HOROBI YO! just means "Vanish!" or "Begone!" and it's word for word in the original.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Because the line most English speaking fans are familiar with is the one from the PSX version.
The PSP version uses an entirely different line, too, so the reference doesn't really work even if it's more accurate to a version of the game extremely few western players are either familiar with or are able to understand enough Japanese so that it being translated more accurately into English resonates in any meaningful way.
The original line is a little hammy, but it's still proper English and there's nothing wrong with it.
True, but sticking to the original means has his merits.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy. So, did someone already post these videos on another account? Because it's been an hour I don't see anyone posting them.
K. Rool has his own victory theme!

https://www.fanfiction.net/u/548347/I've yet to see what is different about Dark Samus...it might literally just be base animations.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.
So beyond introducing me to a longer version of Ultimate Gangplank Galleon, I'm not familiar with the previously shown meme.
Did someone just draw a picture of those dudes rocking out, and then someone else made the video to further mutate it?
Eh whatever.
<Listens to more Gangplank Galleon>
