The gore is hilarious coming from Gohan.
Because the way the Cell Juniors died was clean and dignified.
Hell, the manga even shows the eyeballs among the chunks of head...

The Cell Jrs aren't real people, though. They're artificially created by a monster that was also artificially created. They're fake twice!
There's a big difference between one-shotting people and ripping them to chunks for no apparent reason.
It also has a lot more impact when the gore is sporadic. In this sequence we're getting one gorey death after another (we've also got 17, Freeza, Cooler, the Cell Juniors, the Kaioshin) and it's getting really silly.

So, is him being cut off mid-"Change!" supposed to be a "totally dead now!" flag, since we now know he can "Change!" without it being shown or heard.
... come to think of it, wasn't he using Change after slitting the necks of the Kais? Wouldn't that... like be the worst if saying it is necessary at all?

It's kind of disturbing that Gohan so brutally wiped out a version of his father(even assuming he got his immortality and it just takes time for him to regenerate), it comes off as those jokes of Gohan hating his dad from Team Four Star and memes of Piccolo being Gohan's real dad

Eh, Death Is Cheap is as much in effect here as regular Dragonball, so it's only a temporary concern. The main issue is taking out Babidi
Cell's broken "headpiece" makes me think; it's kind of weird how Cell looks like he's wearing some sort of bug-like suit, but is actually part of his body. Is his "crown" made out of bone? Is it like fingernails and made out of keratin? At least with Frieza I get that it's part of his lizard-like skin

Freeza is supposedly wearing a biosuit even in his final form. Seeing Cell borrows heavily from Freeza, it is probably the case as well.
