This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

A shame you'll probably get called a pretentious hipster (after they get over a Gazebo situation) if you try to use that.
Man, this subplot is dragging on.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.People say that about every subplot.
I'm sure it would work a lot better without the factor of every page being a few weeks apart.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I'd still be bored with this subplot if there was an update everyday, I really don't care about the fight against Crystal when it's going to take at least another five pages on average for them to make any true progress beyond that few stabs from adamantium weapons. Plus Crystal was never all that interesting since "I AM A VERY HORRIBLE AND STUPID PERSON AND HATE HALEY RARGH" is all she has ever been.
that were immediately healed when she was shot with the lightning gun, and possibly then some; she might actually be on temporary HP at the moment - her HP actually being above her maximum.
In any case, while I do think the gnomes shooting her with the lightning gun was a pretty terrible Diabolus ex Machina, I'm liking the Crystal Golem. I appreciate that Haley's decision to pre-emptively murder Crystal in cold blood is coming back to bite her. I don't fault her overmuch for it - Crystal was a terrible human being - but it was still cold-blooded murder of someone who was ostensibly an ally at the time. Haley crossed a moral line, and as V has already learned, you don't get to just walk away from things like that with zero consequences.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.This comic reminds me rather starkly of Thaddius, a boss in the Naxxramas dungeon in World of Warcraft. Whenever he uses his ultimate ability, he yells, "Now YOU feel pain!" He's also basically a Frankenstein's Monster clone, complete with lightning powers.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Monsters like these being in constant pain is a standard trope.
And their pain drives them to inflict comparable suffering on anyone nearby.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Sounds about right. I wrote a character like this once too; he was a Pain Elemental. He was in constant agony, radiated pain like an aura to soothe his own, and could kill with physical contact.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Sometimes I seriously think I should wait for the years it will take for the next book to come out and just read that. Seriously, I've just finished reading Blood runs in the family and wow is this story good without reading it through the central part of an hourglass. I mean, it's still pretty good, but every book is more obiviously planned as a book and not as a series of strips than the previous one.
I seriously think all that, then I refresh giantitp to see if the next page is out yet.
Yeah, the main problem is the glacial pace of updates.
Remember the times when he was putting out 3-4 pages at a time? If this fight would've taken two updates, the amount of complaints would've been much lower.
Two updates wouldn't make for a very satisfying fight though. I think my main problem with this is that I have a pretty good idea that Haley and Bandanna are just going to be keeping Crystal distracted until Roy or one of the casters shows up and curbstomps her.
Two three-page-at-a-time updates, so the same actual pages, just delivered much faster.
Which is a lot of work, especially when you take into account the growing responsibilities of adulthood and Rich's ambiguous medical condition.
Time becomes shorter and shorter as you get older. He puts the pages out when he can, and that's the most anyone can ask of him.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Not that his own artwork isn't fantastic, but i hope for future projects Rich collaborates with an artist for expediency. The reason we read Order is for the quality of its writing. It's amazing.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youYeah, I'm not complaining. I mean, I sorta am, but I am aware Rich is doing what he can and we can't really expect more (or anything) from a free product. I can only hope the pace will get better after Rich finishes the Kickstarter rewards...

We need to find a way o make his work so profitable he can hire a team XD
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI'm working on that: I've managed to lose my Start Of Darkness book, so now I have to buy a new one. I'll order it along with the next book (whenever that may be), though, because fuck America-To-Europe shipping rates.

How is Haley still able to fly?
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsBecause she never lost the ability to fly. She came back to the ground voluntarily; she's still under the influence of the flight wand, and probably will be for hours yet.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Even if it does fade can't she just cast the spell again?
I'm not very invested in this fight, but it's unlikely to last much longer. Someone actually useful is bound to show up and attack Crystal given that she's caught Haley.
I believe that the Wikipedia article, at least, indicates that descriptions varied on whether it was the breath or stare of the catoblepas that was lethal: Pliny mentions its stare, while Claudius Aelianus mentioned its breath (citing a diet of poisonous vegetation as the source of this effect).
