• Archive Panic: At two million words long, it can be an imposing challenge to get through.
  • With currently seventy five chapters, each individual chapter is a significant investment of time.
• Captain Obvious Reveal: It could not have been made more obvious that Ash was Giovanni's son. Beside it being a popular fan theory, the author's foreshadowing was not very subtle.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: In this fic, Ash enters the Indigo Conference and gets all the way to the finals before losing. Several months later, Ash would do the same in the XY season of the anime.
• Moral Event Horizon:
  • Pierce easily crosses the MEH in his first appearance when he orders his Muk to kill Ash, Amelia, and Jonathan for insulting him. Later chapters reveal he crossed it years ago by kidnapping an entire herd of Beldum his family was responsible for and forcibly evolving them, driving several insane.
  • Ash's Golduck is generally just a bit of a Jerkass until Ash gets fed up with it's attitude and tells it off for bullying the younger Pokémon at Oak's ranch. Golduck responds by shooting a full power Water Gun at him, something that's fatal for humans, and shows no remorse when Seeker takes it for Ash.
  • Agatha's ancestors experimented on countless people in an attempt to create Ghosts with the minds of humans. Eventually, they started merging newborn babies with freshly created ghosts, even using their own children.
• Take That, Scrappy!:
  • Ash easily beats Samurai the first time they fight, up until Samurai uses Hyper Beam then runs when it angers a swarm of Beedrill. The second time Ash passes through Viridian Forest, he has all eight badges and just irritably has Infernus use flamethrower on Samurai's Pinsir.
  • Paul is taken out of the Pokemon League offscreen when Michael utterly curb-stomps him. Likewise, everyone who's met Paul agrees he's a prick.
  • Tobias is implied to have been driven insane by Darkrai for challenging it.
• The Woobie: Seeker is a previously abused Zubat who's too weak to do battle and was permanently scarred by Ash's Golduck while saving Ash from the water Pokemon's attack. She mostly serves as a Tagalong Kid for the group.
