YMMV / Unedited Footage of a Bear

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The song "Sermon" by Ed Schrader's Music Beat is used during the second half of the short, and it's surprisingly fitting.
  • Funny Moments: Though the short is an extremely dark and serious look into prescription drug addiction, it does manage to have a few darkly humorous moments-
    • The cameraman at the beginning keeps commenting on the size of the bear's ears.
    • "See our ad in Tables N Chairs Magazine!" Heck, just the fact that the small print keeps going long after the commercial goes off the rails is both disturbing and hilarious.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The short is a very disturbing look into the horrors of drug addiction. Donna's psychological breakdown as her addiction takes over is quite horrifying to say the least.
    • The beating that "Other" Donna gives the original is disturbingly realistic. The sound of the blows aren't over-the-top, nor are the actions - which makes her backing the van over her later even more disturbing. Donna dragging herself out of the road from a pool of her own blood is also horrific.
    • The warnings in particular are horrifying, such as this one from the official site.
Claridryl opens doors and is not responsible donna for what lies inside. Consult your doctor before stopping, starting, continuing, or never taking Claridryl. You may be at risk of bloodening if you combine Claridryl with other selves. Claridryl is not for pregnant, nursing, expectant, waiting, bereaved, or sleeping mothers. What kind of person were you trying to be?
  • The Producer Thinks of Everything: The [adult swim] bug disappears from the screen when the fake YouTube ad appears. It doesn't fade back in until after the commercial audio has faded out.
  • Spiritual Successor: To Too Many Cooks, another Mind Screw [adult swim] short that initially presents itself as something innocent and anodyne before turning very dark indeed.
  • Tear Jerker: The entire short can be seen as this for anyone who has dealt with drug addiction. The last minute and a half, where Donna is lying weakly on the front porch of her house while police sirens surround her, hits especially hard.
