YMMV / Titans: Beast World

Go To

  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: Fans let out a collective sigh of annoyance when Dr. Hate was revealed in the fifth issue to be none other than Raven's evil side made manifest yet again, after the multiple times the "Evil Raven" plot was basically run into the ground by past Titans runs (The Darkening, Forever Evil (1995), Titans (2008), Titans (Rebirth), etc.)
  • Like You Would Really Do It: Literally no one believed that Beast Boy's Death of Personality from the start of the event would stick. And of course, they were absolutely correct.
  • Memetic Mutation: This is a furry comic. Explanation
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • A point of criticism about Beast World is that while Tom Taylor claimed that Beast Boy is the heart of the Titans, Beast World itself is more about Starfire and Raven while Beast Boy is treated more as a plot device to get the conflict going. It's less a criticism in regards to how Beast Boy's handled and more a criticism about how Starfire and Raven are handled, due to the story obviously being more about them while he's treated as the main focus.
    • Turning Power Girl into a humanoid "Flamebird". Not only did this not make sense since Karen had been Nightwing during the Supergirl: Candor storyline with Kara having been Flamebird, the event was a perfect reason to use Bette Kane who had recently returned to being Flamebird in March 2023 as well as being a major Titans character.
    • The event has also been criticized for not utilizing the other Titans characters, choosing to only use the main line-up, despite the Titans historically being a more "X-Men" style group when it came to handling situations like this, such as when Cyborg was kidnapping the former Titans members during JLA/Titans or during the fight against Superman-Prime in Infinite Crisis. Even the more earlier Titans-related runs such as Teen Titans Academy and Dark Crisis managed to utilize other Titans characters than this event did.
