  • Audience-Alienating Premise: The series centering around plagiarism rubbed many readers the wrong way from the get-go, with Teppei's plight coming across as Unintentionally Unsympathetic since he continues to pass off White Knight as his own work despite how often he expresses his guilt over it. This likely contributed to the end of its serialization after only a few months.
  • Awesome Art: Aside of its premise, one thing it got the readers hooked is the manga's very clean and appealing art, along its excellent paneling.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Because of its original premise and appealing art, the series quickly gathered a lot of attention in the west, with many considering it the next big series. Unfortunately, it wasn't appreciated in its native Japan because of the premise centered around plagiarism, leading to low receptions and a short run.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Because the series ended prematurely, it couldn't properly develop its secondary characters.
    • Teppei's assistants barely get any focus or characterization before they disappear from the story as it concentrates more on Aino and Teppei in the last chapters.
    • Okano was shown to be a good friend of Teppei's, having a bit of a friendly rivalry with him, and being the one to give Mirai (the robot from the future) to him. Unfortunately, Okano never appears outside of a brief flashback in the first chapter.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: After Aino went through all the trouble of tracking him down to confront him, Teppei ends up being Easily Forgiven for blatantly copying her manga, and the two are on good terms for the rest of the series. This disappointed readers who were expecting more of a lasting conflict between them.
  • Uncertain Audience: Despite being serialized in a shonen magazine and even focusing on publishing manga in that very same magazine as a plot point, the story tackles themes that would be much more relatable to adults than the intended audience of teenage boys; this includes the difficulties creators go through to live off their work, the issues inherent in the manga industry, and even the morally grey dilemma of Teppei passing off White Knight as his own work despite feeling guilty about it. Along with Teppei coming across as Unintentionally Unsympathetic due to his plagiarism, this is likely part of the reason why the manga was cancelled early on.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Teppei. To some readers, his guilt over his plagiarism is cancelled out by his continuing to plagiarize regardless of it. Him using justifications like "I'm the only one who can draw it!" certainly doesn't help matters. Some even wonder if he's actually meant to be in the wrong at all, especially as of The Reveal in Chapter 7.
  • The Woobie: Aino had her life's work effectively stolen by Teppei, and in multiple timelines, she ends up literally working herself to death.
