YMMV / The Two Mouseketeers

• Angst? What Angst?: Jerry and Nibbles briefly mourn over Tom's execution... for all but two seconds, before going right back to smiling and walking into the sunset as if nothing bad happened.
• Condemned by History: This cartoon was initially very popular upon release, even managing to win an Oscar; today, however, it is considered one of the worst cartoons in the series due to its particularly cruel ending to Tom, even by Tom and Jerry standards.
• Designated Hero: The mice are Musketeers, but they're stealing from their own king, and yet we're supposed to root for them when Tom pays with his life for trying and failing to stop them.
• Designated Villain: Tom was just trying to protect the King's food from the mice. He ends up getting executed for failing to do so.
• It Was His Sled: If you went into this short not knowing the ending while living in the internet era, you can probably consider yourself lucky.
• Karmic Overkill: Tom gets the guillotine for failing to stop Jerry's antics, automatically sending this short into "darkest T&J short" lists (the only one that tops it is "Blue Cat Blues").
• Never Live It Down: Jerry (and to a lesser degree Nibbles) has picked up a reputation as having set out to steal the banquet knowing that it would cause Tom to be executed for his failure to protect it. However, the Mouseketeers weren't actually present when Tom was threatened with execution if he messed up, and indeed, they both look genuinely shocked when Tom actually meets his demise, even if they don't dwell on it for long.
• Nightmare Fuel: That guillotine at the beginning and end.
