- Creepy Cute: Many people find the skeletons cute due to their expressions and dancing, yet are also creeped out by their design and some moments in the cartoon, such as the one where a skeleton eats the camera.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: At one point, two of the skeletons grab each other's ankles and roll along... kind of like a bonewheel.
- Memetic Mutation: Scenes from this short are often used in conjunction with the “Spooky Scary Skeletons” song. For better or worse, this was officially the case in one of the Disney Sing-Along Song videos.
- Now in The Living Tombstone Remix! Which also became one of Brizzy Voices' big raid status music (complete with a scene from this short as a gif) when she plays on Twitch.
- This Team Fortress 2 fan video.
- Later remade with the zombie skins!

- Once Original, Now Common: The short was fairly controversial upon release, but most people watching it today probably aren't going to be particularly scared or scandalised by something this lighthearted and silly.
- Watch It for the Meme: The short is a mildly noteworthy bit of animation history on its own, but it owes most of its wider fame these days to the above-mentioned "Spooky Scary Skeletons".
