  • Draco in Leather Pants: Of the three main villains, Derek has an especially large fanbase on social media.
  • Nightmare Fuel: In spades.
    • Derek blowing your head off by jamming a lit firework right into your mouth while you can't do anything about it.
    • Getting your leg caught in a bear trap; while you don't die, you still lose a lot of health and sanity from it.
    • Getting mauled by a bear while you are sleeping because you were dumb enough to carry a fish on you first.
    • Celia removing your tongue, shoving you into a pet pen, and leaving you in her torture basement so you become completely dependent on her after you lose all sanity.
  • Nintendo Hard: Trying to aim for the best endings will not be easy.
    • Plus, one of the secret endings requires you to have zero deaths. Getting the 100% completion achievement requires you to earn that route first. If you didn't know this from the beginning, you'd have to reset all the progress you already made.
  • Spiritual Successor: To Boyfriend To Death, and while it does focus on a similar plotline and rating, the similarities come to a halt there:
    • BTD was chock-full of supernatural, otherworldly, and demonic entities. TPOF has almost none of those, instead focusing on all-too-real murderers and harsh outdoor conditions.
    • Gatobob had been the only one working on The Price of Flesh, thanks to supporters on her Patreon.
    • TPOF is mainly a survival game, not a romance simulator. There is an option to toggle NSFW content, but it's not necessary to complete the game.
    • With all that said, however, there are a few secrets that tie the two universes together. Notably, all of Gatobob's routes in Boyfriend To Death 1 and 2 make a comeback in secret endings, almost three decades after the second game - Strade is now a demon that can be summoned by two of Derek's cohorts, Lawrence is the skeletal creature lurking in Mason's neck of the woods, and Ren is the host of Celia's favorite red-room livestream. (Ren also happens to be the titular salesperson who auctions off the player.)
