  • Broken Base: While most people enjoyed the fact Bakugo isn't a Karma Houdini, some aren't happy about the fact he is an Adaptational Jerkass and accuse the author of not getting him. The author himself addresses the issue at the beginning of chapter 49 on FanFiction.Net.
  • Catharsis Factor:
    • Mineta actually faces consequences for his pervy behavior, including facing the risk of being expelled if he doesn't cut it out.
    • Instead of being mostly Played for Laughs, Bakugo's actions are given the rightful weight: Momo actually starts to resent him after learning of his history with Izuku and tries to convince Midoriya to do the same.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Bakugo's suggestion that Midoriya should kill himself and hope to reborn with a quirk is made even worse in this version when we learn that the suicide rates among Quirkless people are three times higher than average.
    • And even worse later, because Inko thought he was considering suicide. And it gets worse than that: he was.
  • Narm Charm: Izuku's compliments to Momo are pretty corny, but they tend to work because 1) He genuinely means them and, 2) They are exactly what Midoriya would say.
  • Take That, Scrappy!: When All Might accidentally breaks down a door, he asks the students to blame Mineta. Lampshaded when Mineta objects about it and All Might explains it's because the fanbase hates him.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Yaoyorozu and Inko's conversation in chapter 30, where we learn how difficult it was for Izuku's mom watching her son grow up Quirkless and bullied. She even admits she at times was scared he'd try to kill himself. It gets worse in chapter 45 when Izuku admits several instances when he actually considered it.
    • In chapter 36, Yaoyorozu finds an old list of goals Midoriya had in mind: most of them (becoming friends again with Bakugo, making new ones, becoming a hero, and finding love) are marked as impossible, while the one that did come true (meeting All Might) was when he bluntly told him he could never be a hero without a Quirk.
    • The fact that Izuku is the only one who can see or hear Nana is usually Played for Laughs. Not so much with All Might, who would really like to see his old teacher again.
    • While the facts were present in the original work, we get to see Nana find out that her sacrifice – specifically, giving up her child to protect him from All For One – was All for Nothing. Her son resented her (and hated her for abandoning him until he died), eventually coming to hate all heroes, before getting killed by his own child... who then became The Dragon to All For One, anyway.
