YMMV / Supergirl (2015) S4E22 "The Quest for Peace"

Go To

  • Ass Pull: Eve not being a Loony Fan of Lex and being under the thumb of a mysterious organization named Leviathan came completely out of nowhere. Then again, her being a Loony Fan of Lex instead of the nervous assistant at Catco that she'd appeared to be from day one also came completely out of nowhere.
  • Broken Base: Viewers either see this as an epic season finale or a rushed job that ties up multiple arcs that were dragged on like James and Lockwood's Harun-El power-ups without a satisfying conclusion.
  • Catharsis Factor:
    • Lex's death may be likely to be reversed, but it was still very satisfying to see his plans fall to pieces after he's spent his screentime being incredibly smug and cruel. Lena being the one to kill him is just the icing on the cake.
    • Lockwood is arrested for domestic terrorism and has to watch from the prison TV as his son makes a speech denouncing his beliefs. Baker gets impeached and arrested.
  • I Knew It!: Many fans guessed, in the weeks leading up to this episode, that Lex would be the one to reveal to Lena that Kara is Supergirl. To their collective sheer horror, they were right.
  • Shocking Moments: The Monitor coming to Earth-38, bringing with him J'onn's brother and collecting Lex.
  • Special Effect Failure: The CGI on the Lexosuit is mostly fine, but the shot of Lex's head sticking out of it while being held up by Kara is incredibly fake looking.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Red Daughter is a fascinating Shadow Archetype of Kara, but with her death here, all the story potential in that concept goes out the window.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Remember Mikhail, the kid whose supposed death Lex used to fully turn Red Daughter against America? She never finds out the truth about him and goes to her grave still thinking American missiles killed him.note
  • Unexpected Character:
    • The Monitor coming up to collect Lex for the upcoming Arrowverse crossover Crisis On Infinite Earths. The actor's name does appear in the opening credits, however.
    • Malefic J'onzz was a surprise arrival, especially since J'onn having a brother is something that hadn't been mentioned in the series before now.
    • Leviathan especially since in the comics, they're led by Talia Al-Ghul and are adversaries of Batman. Even if they appeared in the Arrowverse, you'd think they'd be in Arrow, which has featured the League of Shadows prominently.
