- Awesome Music: The whole score by Cliff Martinez, but in particular the scene of Chris' first approach towards the station at Solaris. Which is interesting, considering Soderbergh originally intended to have either Pink Floyd or Velvet Underground fill the space.
- Critical Dissonance: Audiences mostly hated it. As a result, it got an incredibly rare F score on CinemaScore despite the positive reviews (only one of four films to accomplish this, and one of only twenty-one F-rated films total) and it became a Box Office Bomb.
- Diagnosed by the Audience: Rheya is apparently suffering from clinical depression.
- Funny Moments: This exchange:
- Moral Event Horizon: Chris crossed the line when he locks the first copy of Rheya in a pod and jettisons it.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Lem himself did not particularly care for this adaptation (though he didn't even watch it), citing concerns that it was too focused on the romantic aspects.
