- Sweet Dreams Fuel: The album is often considered as such due to its relaxed sound, which is one reason it was Vindicated by History. Apparently it was used to ease the effects of "bad trips" on LSD for this reason.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Most fans of SMiLE have a disdain for the minimalist and experimental nature which contrasts with how grand the prototype album was supposed to sound like. Retrospectively, the contemporary reviews for the album were mixed and people were confused by the finished product when it was compared to the amount of hype "Good Vibrations" generated.
- Vindicated by History: After receiving mixed and disappointing reviews the year it came out, the album would go on to become a cult favourite once lo-fi was much more accepted as a genre. Its experimental content inspired indie acts such as Animal Collective. The release of The SMiLE Sessions in 2011 also helped its reputation, now making it a nice alternative version of SMiLE instead of a lesser replacement.
