- Harsher in Hindsight: Jay and Annie's sex tape is uploaded to the cloud, where it is then seen by several people whom were never intended to see it. On August 31, 2014 nude pictures of Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Victoria Justice and other female celebrities were leaked online after their Apple iCloud accounts were hacked (making the movie quite topical on its UK release a few days later).
- Memetic Mutation: The "Spider Bite" version of the film. People posted joke reviews of the movie on Amazon, stating that they got the "Spider Bite" version, in which the film is mostly the same, except Jay is bitten by a spider and dies early on in the film.
