YMMV / STU48

Go To

  • Fan Nickname: Despite being an AKB48 sister group, fans and the media have noted the similarities of STU's music and image to that of Nogizaka46 and its sister groups, which earned them the nickname Setouchizaka46. This includes having no swimsuit or lingerie photoshoots outside photobooks (Utsumi Rine being the sole exception), usually a given for the AKB48 Group.
  • Friendly Fandoms: In mid-2022, several members experienced a spike in their Showroom viewership from Hinatazaka46 fans (Ohisama), who had been watching a Hinatazaka member livestream session (which usually attracts 20,000+ viewers, as Sakamichi groups only stream several times a month) and were automatically directed to other live accounts after it ended. In particular, Takino Yumiko received a large influx of Kamimura Hinano's viewers on April 14 and seized the chance to mention her good relationship with Hinatazaka46 members after collaborating in Sakamichi AKB and her shared hometown with Kawata Hina, which helped boost the sales of "Hana wa Dare no Mono?" and her own photobook, as well as her social media follower count. Some fans call this fateful event the "Great Ohisama Migration Incident", and it was even recounted for a mainstream audience (presumably unfamiliar with Showroom) during this group's debut on the popular show Music Blood.
    • Hinatazaka's Nibu Akari's photobook, released in July 2022, happens to have half of its content photographed in the Setouchi region (the photos were taken in summer of 2021), which again earned the approval of this group's fans. Kawata Hina's photobook, released the previous year and which copy Yumirin owns, was also partly photographed in her hometown in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
    • STU covers Hinatazaka's "Kyun" during their appearance on Music Blood aired on August 5 in acknowledgement of this (which was also a day before the Hiroshima atomic bombing memorial day). Nakamura Mai also demonstrates her ability to fit inside a travel bag, which is the same skill shown by Matsuda Konoka and Yamaguchi Haruyo in Hinatazaka de Aimashō several years before. And by the way, the narrator for that episode is none other than former member and captain Okada Nana.
    • Both groups appeared at the Tokyo Idol Festival 2022, and Yumirin took the time to visit Hinatazaka's dressing room to give Hinano her photobook as a gift.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In 2018, Yano Honoka and Mori Kaho's duet earned the lowest score in the singing contest of Setobingo episode 10 (they were trying too hard to be funny). Later that year, Honottan placed seventh in the AKB48 Group No. 1 Singer Competition. It was also not a fluke, as she was a finalist in the second and top 8 again in the third.
  • Signature Song: "Yume Chikara" is the closing song in almost every big concert. "Pedal to Sharin to Kita Michi to" is almost always performed as well.
