YMMV / Ron's Gone Wrong

Go To

  • Anvilicious: Connecting with other people purely based on social media interactions and technology can be heavily flawed and fail to provide the full picture of the other person you're befriending.
  • Ass Pull: Everyone just forgets about "Poop Girl" after Ron overrides the B-Bots' code and the video is deleted in the process. Even if we accept that, what are the chances nobody had the video saved anywhere else that Ron would have had no access to?
  • Ending Fatigue: A minor complaint by some critics is that the movie builds to an emotional climax only for it to continue into the actual climax — while struggling to maintain tension — and then the denouement.
  • Friendly Fandoms: To anyone who's a fan of The Iron Giant, they will most likely appreciate this movie due to having a similar premise. It helps that Barney bears a strong resemblance to Hogarth in both appearance and background.
    • This also applies to any fan of the movie that came out earlier this year, The Mitchells vs. the Machines.
    • Fans of Big Hero 6 have also taken a liking to the film, as they both involve a young main character (Barney and Hiro) who earns a robotic companion (Ron and Baymax) invented by a Teen Genius (Marc and Tadashi).
  • Moral Event Horizon: Andrew Morris crosses it when he notices the B-Bot search party found Barney and Ron but then calls the search off despite Barney clearly being in distress, outright hoping he and Ron will die in the woods.
  • Special Effects Failure: Despite decent reviews from critics and audiences, one of the film's biggest criticisms is it's animation looking like something from the 2000s, which does not appear to be intentional, and as a result comes off as very cheap and generic-looking.
