YMMV / Roco Kingdom

Go To

  • Archive Panic: Besides the original game, there's a webtoon with 59 episodes, a TV show with 144 episodes, and a live-action series with eight episodes. That's 211 episodes total, on top of the four films and licensed books and whatnot.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: In the Western fanbase (which does exist, but is extremely small), Enzo, Cullan, and the rest of the bad guys are surprisingly well-liked due to them not being carbon copies of already-existing Pokémon villains like, for example, Team Rocket.
  • Fandom Rivalry: There are many rivalries between the mon series fanbase.
    • Pokemon fans in particular are the most vocal in accusing Roco Kingdom along with many other similar mon games of plagiarizing the game mechanics, and that the animated movies are shoddy knockoffs. It doesn't help that Tencent has a track record of copying a number of other games. Adding to that, the poor presentation of Pokemon Unite, an official Pokemon game co-developed by Tencent, paints Roco Kingdom in a negative light.
    • SEER and Aola Star were created by Taomee and Beioo respectively. These three fandoms do not get along with each others and often accuse each other of plagiarizing gameplay and mon designs. It doesn't help that all of these fanbases are mostly young kids, ensuring petty conflict.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Tencent Games not only created Roco Kingdom, a Pokemon knock-off, but as of 2020 they've worked an official Pokemon game (Pokémon Unite) as well.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks!: A number of people are quick to accuse the Roco Kingdom franchise of copying Pokemon, considering the amount of ideas the latter steals from the former (such as Poke Balls, a number of mon designs, etc.).
