YMMV / Powerwolf

Go To

  • Friendly Fandoms:
    • There's so much overlap between the fandoms of Powerwolf and Sabaton that asking for them to do a co-headlining tour has become a minor meme.
    • To a lesser degree, with Amaranthe after their cover of "Army of the Night" drew attention to the similarly dramatic, anthemic styles of the two bands.
    • They are also appreciated by fans of the Space Wolves chapter of Space Marines in Warhammer 40,000, given that their aesthetics and the themes they sing about fit very well with that chapter.
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: Inverted. On one side, the albums after Blood of the Saints sound pretty similar. On the other side, those Albums have been Powerwolf's most commercially successful ones, at least in Germany.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Thanks to ymfah using their songs as openings for his challenge runs.
    • Amen and Attack is more memetically known as A BANANA TANK due to some viewers mishearing it (and yes, ymfah has used it as well).
  • Misaimed Fandom: They acquired a small following of Neo-Nazis who loved their song, "In the Name of God (Deus Vult)", despite it depicting the Crusaders who originated the phrase as greedy and bloodthirsty.
  • More Popular Spin-Off: None of Attila Dorn's previous bands have earned the same amount of recognition that Powerwolf has achieved.
  • Narm Charm: "Resurrection By Erection". The lyrics are hilariously awkward and over-the-top, but the howling delivery is nigh-irresistible anyway.
