YMMV / PPPPPP

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: With the reveal of Lucky's suppressed genius in Fanta's arc, a number of fans wonder if Gakuon's abusive treatment of Lucky as a child had less to do with being totally mediocre and more to do with a disappointment that Lucky could be as good at the piano as his siblings, but actively chooses not to.
  • Audience-Alienating Premise: Manga about music generally tend to be a hard sell because of their focus on music in a soundless medium, but this manga was starkly different from the usual output of Shonen Jump and what the magazine's primary audience is used to reading. In a magazine that is known for gag comedies and hot blooded action, PPPPPP is a slow paced family drama with heavy focus on character exploration. The art, while beautiful in its capacity to create surreal scenes and landscapes, is also quite unusual for shonen manga, with character designs that break from the norm a lot, making it even harder to get interest from the main readership of the magazine. Strong visuals and character writing ultimately earned the manga a lot of appreciation among fans and its own fanbase, but it never managed to attract enough people to leave the very bottom of Jump's charts. Despite strong critical reception, the manga was ultimately cancelled in its 70th chapter.
  • Awesome Art: The presentation of the piano visuals is quite interesting and one of the highlights of the series.
    • Mimin's performance of "Revolutionary Étude" in Chapter 20. She creates many distorted trees and a Russian monarch gloating about how the soldiers' revolution has failed. In particular, the trees are wrapped around an expressionless Meloli.
    • Sorachika's performance of "La Campanella" in Chapter 48. It uses multiple pages to show a sky shaped from "nothing" before showing the audience members what they believe in the most. In Lucky's case, he sees a version of himself with the same piano eyes as the other Otogamis.
  • Fan Nickname:
    • Japanese fans refer to the series as PiPiPi, per the official tagline on Twitter. As for overseas fans, they tend to call it P6 or 6P.
    • Gakuon and Chouchou often get called Papan and Maman respectively by fans.
    • It is also not unusual to see fans cut the septuplets' names to the musical note when talking about the series, such as Reijiro becomes Re or Mimin becomes Mi.
  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • Lucky's take on "The Joyful Island" is not only an answer to Meloli's "Pavane for a Dead Princess", it's a full-on dirge for Mimin as a professional pianist. Whereas Meloli's "Pavane" was performed in a way to snuff out Mimin's love for the piano and twist Mimin's desire to save her, Lucky's "Joyful Island" doesn't even challenge the point; it simply offers her a reprieve and a sense of catharsis that only she can access, far away from everyone else who hears it, like he's giving his "dead princess" sister her own personal Heaven while everyone else can only "drown". Unsurprisingly, Mimin quits competitive classical piano altogether after this, though not without her own personal goodbye.
    • The Otogami children's favorite food revealed in the second volume of anniversary art somehow can speak for the identity of each kid to a degree.
      • Don likes an osechi-ryouri, a traditional dish that is usually consumed in the new year. It correlates to how he dresses formally (like a conservative pianist would do), and his playing style that leans into a faithful rendition of a musical piece.
      • Reijiro likes his yakiniku shaped like a star, reminding him of Lucky. Yakiniku is also made from meat, which is full of protein, a thing that he consumes often to strengthen himself. He is a Pint-Sized Powerhouse already, and it correlates to the titan he conjures, as a titan is usually depicted as something big and strong.
      • Mimin likes miso ramen and tiramisu, with both foods containing mi on the name. Ramen noodle is curly, just like her hair and the distorted trees she evokes in piano playing.
      • Fanta likes fancy and high-class Chinese food, which usually comes as something pricey and extravagant. This might be tied to his mindset of preferring things of high value.
      • Lucky likes omelet rice, something simple and homey, correlating to his simplicity in personality, appearance, and lack of talent.
  • Les Yay: It is genuinely tough to say whether Meloli and Mimin's feelings for each other are platonic or romantic. They both openly state they love each other a lot, play for the sake of each other, and Mimin straight up considers Meloli her muse, making almost all her fairies look like her.
    • Chapter 46, in particular, makes their make up scene looks like true Relationship Upgrade. Mimin asks Sorachika what is the feeling he understood from Meloli's piece, and he says that it is a plea for Mimin to choose her and a declaration of her love. The two then are alone on a balcony, both say they love each other and are hugging
Sorachika, about the meaning of Meloli's song: "I love you so much. If you choose me as your number one, then I would be truly happy."
  • Viewer Gender Confusion:
    • Sikato often gets mistaken as a female by fans due to his androgynous appearance even though chapter 15 shows him to have Adam's apple.
    • There are some fans who think of Rock as a girl on his first appearance due to his Girlish Pigtails despite clearly wearing a male uniform.
