Alternative Character Interpretation: Most of the characters still view Pedro as an 'All Round Great Guy' who just made a mistake in slut-shaming Hero, but he can easily be viewed as a self-centered douchebag with a vindictive streak when he doesn't get his own way. Despite claiming he was ok with Bea rejecting him, him turning on Hero seems largely motivated by anger at Bea and he admits that his plan to set up Bea and Ben was actually meant to humiliate Ben by making him think Bea liked him rather than get them together. Given Pedro is clearly used to being more popular and successful than to Ben and it was obvious Bea preferred Ben over Pedro, his actions for much of the series look more like a guy turning on his best friend because he got the girl, rather than a guy whose out of his depth in unfolding drama.
Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Benedick has two. His second video, "CLAUDIO," randomly ends with a montage of sloth pictures set to a poorly-hummed "My Heart Will Go On." It happens again in "NYEEH," only with flamingoes instead of sloths, and the montage is inserted into the middle of the video rather than the end.
Since the latter was a form of Kissing Discretion Shot for Ben and Bea, the fans' shocked reaction in the comments section was especially hilarious: "AGGRESSIVELY STOPS LIKING FLAMINGOES"
Crosses the Line Twice: Verges and Dogberry tackle and kidnap Cora and Robbie, tie them up and attempt to bully them into giving away information. Their methods are extremely incompetent rather than harmful but it is still a pretty horrifying set-up to play as comedy.
Fan Nickname: In a meta version, the fans refer to themselves as "flamangoes", which is a reference both to Ben's obsession with flamingoes and the argument Ben and Bea have over the health benefits of mangoes in an early video.
Fan-Preferred Couple: A lot of fans ship Pedro/Balthazar. Which becomes canon at the end. Then Lovely Little Losers happens... And surprisingly, the most popular romantic interest for Hero in fanfic (or at least set-post-series fanfic) is John or possibly Ursula.
Harsher in Hindsight: Hero jokes about getting married to a boy who kissed her in Primary School and mentions that they never got a divorce. She then makes a comment about needing to discuss it with Claudio. Becomes Harsher in Hindsight after her 16th Birthday.
Ben and his friendship with Pedro and Claudio all becomes much sadder later on: Ben admits he's an only child so Pedro and Claudio are like the brothers he never had but worries that they only view him as an annoying tag-along friend. After events of Hero's birthday Ben's "forced to pick a side" and stands by Hero against Pedro and Claudio. Although it's the right thing to do, it's still pretty horrible that he's frozen out by his two best friends.
Portmanteau Couple Name: Beadick (Beatrice and Benedick) and Pedrazar (Pedro and Balthazar).
