YMMV / No Need For Destiny

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Many readers feel that Midori might have had a thing for Hashirama
    • Did Tsunami have a child that she never told Ranma about
  • Anvilicious: Many saw Ranma referring to his love for Akane as being "momentary" especially as the implication throughout the story being that that relationship was shallower in nature as well as years to his and Nabiki/Washu’s. it came across more like Ranma was serving as the author's mouthpiece.
  • Audience-Alienating Premise: Instead of a linear story No Need for Destiny uses an inverted storyline that spans over 20000 years this threw some readers off.
  • Designated Villain: In universe Ranma and Nabiki met Hild while enjoying a ceremony that she informed them was to celebrate the defeat of some minor demon. However what actually happened was that the villagers found him declared him a major demon, and finished him off.
  • Fanfic Fuel: The fact that the majority of Ranma and Nabiki’s lives as well as the lives of their kids are still unknown is this.
    • The many crossover character the story uses was Yajirou a member of the Shinmei-ryu did the Kojima clan create them.
    • What was Sugoroku Mutou Kuramitsu’s life on Earth like
    • The sealed systems and how different the Slayer and Naruto universes are/will be due to Enma’s influence
    • What if different series besides Naruto and Slayers were used as templates for the new worlds like say Zoids, Avatar, ect.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: For those who have read any of Jim Bader’s work Ryoga’s mother pretending to be his father over the phone because she can’t be with his actual father who turns out to be related to Ranma for some reason. However while in A Tale of Two Wallets Ranma was Ryoga’s brother here he is Ryoga’s grandfather.
  • Inferred Holocaust: Done in universe by the Juraian advisor to convince Ranma to take his education more seriously. Genma’s plan was for Ranma to take over the Dojo but stressed that Ranma shouldn’t worry about learning on how to actually run a dojo. Knowing that he could never trust his father to run it for him honestly Ranma quickly realized that Genma was going to use him all his life.
  • It Was His Sled: The moment you read Kain’s name you knew what was going too happen
  • Manipulative Bastard: This is how Kain managed to stay in charge as he was always four steps ahead of the men who tried to kill him.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Kain not only trying to steal Nabiki’s embryos to start his own harem but also sending gravity bombs to kill Nabiki Miyuki and Mikumo so that no Kuramitsu remain to stop him.
  • Ron the Death Eater: After the reveal many readers had problems with Nabiki’s conversation with Akane prolog. Instead of merely maintaining the charade they see her actions as being deliberately cruel as they see it as her setting Akane up for a fall by implying that Akane still has a chance with Ranma despite already being in a relationship with him that has spanned eons.
