YMMV / Never Too Young to Die

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: At one point a mook threatens to "Tenderize Your (Danja's) Butt" if she doesn't give him the Ram-K
  • Captain Obvious Reveal: It wasn't really hard to figure out that Carruthers and Ragnar were the same person since you can clearly see that the former was Gene Simmons with a beard.
  • Complete Monster: Velvet Von Ragnar, the Arch-Enemy of the Stargroves, is an evil transgender crime lord: 50% man, 50% woman, 100% wicked to the core. Velvet opens the film bombastically announcing his intention to poison the water supply of L.A. with a "worse than lethal" toxin that will contaminate it for 10,000 years, demanding extravagant ransom to stave that threat off. A gleeful sadist and murderer besides, Velvet guns down Lance Stargrove's secret spy father while attempting to have Lance's girlfriend cooked and Lance himself beaten to death. Velvet demonstrating a recurring nasty liking for "the finger", using his poisoned nails to fatally gouge out the throats of captured secret spies and his own failed minions alike–-a nail that ends up jammed in his own neck during the final battle with Lance atop a dam, mere minutes after gloating he'll ensure all of the millions of homes downstream will obliviously be receiving the toxic water after his ransom plot is foiled.
  • Fashion-Victim Villain: Even for The '80s, Velvet Von Ragnar had hilariously bad fashion sense.
  • Narm Charm: Gene Simmons' performance as Ragnar is so over the top and campy that it's impossible to take him seriously, but he's also easily the most entertaining thing about the movie.
  • So Bad, It's Good: Likely an intentional example.
  • Special Effects Failure: When we see Ragnar plummet to his death, it is completely obvious that we're watching a prop dummy.
  • The Woobie:
    • The woman we see captured at the beginning, who's whimpering and begging for her life. Ragnar kills her anyway.
    • Lance himself counts, having to deal with his father being murdered, which becomes even worse when we learn that, due to his father's job as a secret agent, they rarely got to spend time together.
