- Alas, Poor Villain: Fiamma wants to become a Magic God to preserve the world that is slowly dying. His method is cruel, but his goal is understandable, and his death garners some sympathy as well.
- Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: The ending of the story where Touma and Saten "resume" their relationship and Frenda comes back to life, safe to say that all those suffering is not in vain.
- Infinity -1 Sword: Saten's Combat Clairvoyance ability serves as this, as it gives her major advantage in combat situations, but using it takes a lot of stamina. Plus, an exceptionally capable Magic Knight with balanced power of brute force and magic can give her a hard time.
- Infinity +1 Sword: Saten who gains control of Index and her 103,000 grimoires can fight every Academy City ESPers (including the Level 5 ones) to stalemate without any significant trouble or drawback.
- It Was His Sled: In "Twain", there is a female who is described as a hetero-chromatic blonde woman with green left eye and blue right eye, and she possesses magic powerful enough to harm Acqua of the Back. A non-assuming reader would think that it is an Original Character or an author's Self-Insert, but readers who have read New Testament light novels would be able to recognize, or at least suspect her as Othinus who had altered her appearance.
- Moral Event Horizon: Saten from Psi World crosses the line in "Echo" when she destroys the Psi world and kills everyone in it, including her family.
- Tear Jerker:
- From Never the Twain Shall Meet:
- The climax of "Twain": Touma begs Othinus to save Saten who commits suicide and is dying, declaring that he chooses to be with Saten over saving the world. Unfortunately, Othinus refuses, saying that Saten countering her Sadistic Choices by sacrificing herself is beyond her control.
- The ending chapter where Touma and Othinus are sent back to a world where Touma and Saten had never been in love. It is so painful that Othinus does not even feel happy or proud despite her managing to break Touma. If it isn't for the sequel, the story would ended on a very depressing note.
- From Echo of a Lost World:
- Frenda's death, and how Saten reacts to it.
- The ending of the story where Touma and Saten "resume" their relationship after a tearful reunion, doubles with Crowning Moment of Heartwarming.
