YMMV / Minnesota Anthony Reviews

  • Crosses the Line Twice: Part One of the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull review has Donny offer this gem:
"I said Crystal Skull was worse than Adolf Hitler raping every single Jew in Auschwitz while shooting a baby while eating kittens while burning alive the entire Republican Party while making making pies out of human brains while forcing every human on Earth to watch Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen on a loop for eternity while skinning a nun while slaughtering a third-world country while using puppies as target practice while blowing up the moon while going back in time and assassinating Jesus Christ while drowing twelve monkeys while asking Amy Adams out on a date and then standing her up while drawing a painting of a disemboweled man while spitting in someone's burger while slapping a crying prostitute while doing the chicken dance, and for some reason you got all offended!"
  • Fridge Horror: Minny has his own moment, after realizing the implied pedophilia in a statement from Donny.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Picture yourself getting locked in a fridge and the only person in the house decides to go out and get a burger...
  • Padding: A common criticism is that the reviews tend to launch into distracting skits, resulting in actual analysis of the film being dropped for sometimes whole minutes while a gag is completed. This, and the actual critical analysis isn't snappy enough for some, bordering on feeling like a lecture.
  • Stylistic Suck: The show's production values (video and audio quality, editing of scenes or dialogue, sound effects and lighting) can be very inconsistent. In the beginning this was simply thanks to Jonathan Anthony's limited budget and timeframe to even film videos, but after a while, as his tools and skill improved, he retained the usage of webcams and natural lighting because he decided it acted as a good way to highlight his creativity in spite of the limitations.
