- Iron Woobie: Taki's situation is gut-wrenching and his devotion to his country and his people is really admirable.
- Jerk Ass Woobie: Klaus's own situation is NOT easy (deserts from his country for Taki's love, is subjected to racism in Taki's homeland, already had massive troubles before this happened), but it REALLY doesn't justify how he treats Taki. (i.e, In the anime he outright rapes Taki.)
- Moe: Taki in the omake. Cat ears and tail, huge eyes, a frilly apron, getting molested by tentacles and acting all caring and worried about Klaus and making him food... No wonder Klaus reacted the way he did.
