YMMV / Lewis Black

Go To

  • Crosses the Line Twice: As to be expected from an angry foul-mouthed comedian.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: His routine about realizing NSYNC was gay during their Super Bowl performance, "and I don't know who their manager is, but he's gay too." The band's manager, Lou Pearlman, was later revealed to be a pederast who molested several of the talent he put together.
    • In one of his televised stand-up performances (not The Daily Show), Lewis Black related an incident in which he was on the New York City subway: the loudspeaker announced there was a bomb threat and asked the passengers to calmly exit the train. Nobody moved because no one took it seriously. He went on to say: "Who would be stupid enough to terrorize New York? It's redundant." Cue The War on Terror.
    • His bit in the first Comedy Central Presents special about avoiding the flu shot is less funny nowadays, due to the anti-vax movement where parents who refuse to vaccinate their children have caused previously defeated diseases to return.
    • In one of his specials, he derided the term "working from home", claiming that nobody actually gets works done from home and it's just code for masturbating. This joke became immediately obsolete in 2020, due to many workers telecommuting due to COVID, and proving people can be just as productive at home as in an office.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Lewis's slams against Rick Santorum (specifically, his anti-gay marriage remarks) are even funnier ever since Santorum ran for president in the 2012 election and his views became more well-known to the general public.
    • In one of the specials, he did a bit about how frozen embryos aren't alive. This gained increased relevance in 2024 when Alabama declared that frozen embryos are people.
  • Memetic Mutation: Black's routines about "A Starbucks across from another Starbucks" and "If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in college" have achieved memetic status.
