  • Awesome Art: Because of the popularity of the story, the author has received more than several fanart based on scenes from the fanfic over the past few months. They even created a masterlist in chapter 36 with the links to all the fanart/content they've received.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Maki Harukawa has received quite alot of discussion from the story's fans/reviewers about the direction of her character development at the start of Chapter 5. Some people are upset that Maki has become a flat and unlikeable character as all she does now is bicker with Kokichi or Kaede while clinging onto Kaito. Other people consider this characterization justifiable as she no longer has the positive interactions she had in the canon source which allowed her to let her guard down and be more open with others. It also doesn't help that Kaede has been a source of antagonism for her since the beginning which gives Maki no reason to soften up. Surprisingly, the author is aware of these debates and is more than welcoming of them as they encourage insightful discussions among the fans while also appreciating them being polite and civil with each other as they discuss the issue.
  • Funny Moments: Monokuma interrupts the final trial twice to shamelessly plug his own merchandise. Even the mastermind is a little put off.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Chapter 36, a Breather Episode filled with sweet Free Time Events between Kaede and her fellow students, offers two scenes that end up having tragic implications that apply later in the story.
Kaede (during Chapter 1): I hope [Rantaro] he’s okay. I just don’t think anything good can come from running off and doing stuff all on your own without confiding in anyone, you know?
Angie (during Chapter 2): “And when you die, God says you go back to the stars to be with him.
Himiko: I dunno. That sounds pretty nice… just bein’ a star forever.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Now has its own page!
  • Rewatch Bonus:
    • If you've already played through the canon game then you'll definitely notice vague clues and hints hidden in the story that pertain to major spoilers. Such as Tsumugi being the mastermind and organizing the killing game.
    • The same can be said about the story itself where one can notice crucial details that pertain to a given murder or story event.
