YMMV / Gunblade N.Y./L.A. Machineguns

Go To

Both Games:

  • Harsher in Hindsight: The gist of both games involve terrorists attacking New York and the entirety of the West Coast. Especially in the former, where in the first mission of "Big Apple Liberation" part of the game shows the World Trade Center. Then came 9/11. When the game was ported to the Wii in 2010, the World Trade Center was edited out, also, the game was actually set 5 days after the Terrorist attacks in London on July 7 2005, despite being released in 1996.
  • Polished Port: The Wii port is this, as in addition to the (defunct as of the end of Wii's lifetime support) online rankings, featured a rank up system that unlocked extra weapons for use. These range from a Spread Shot, a rapid fire cannon, and a strong single-shot cannon. Oh, and all of these weapons can be switched on the fly. Though the player need to at least finish the game once to use it.
  • Spiritual Successor: Ghost Squad (2004) take cues from both Gunblade NY and L.A. Machineguns.

Gunblade NY:

LA Machineguns:

  • Even Better Sequel: L.A Machineguns was regarded as this due to the, at the time, more refined graphics and faster and more wild gameplay which really gives you the thrill of speed as you shoot down terrorists.
  • Moral Event Horizon: The Rage of the Machines in LA Machineguns crosses it when they attack a Bank Armored Vehicle in the middle of Las Vegas as well as holding civilians within the area.
