• Audience-Alienating Premise: It's possible that the show's lackluster marketing and eventual cancellation stemmed from this. The show attempted to be both a gritty crime drama and a Twilight-esque teenage love story, with mixed results. The market for those who enjoy both appears to be narrow, judging by the show's lackluster ratings. And while attitudes are changing, a sizeable portion of American audiences are still put off by the idea of following a show with two gay leads, who have a shirtless makeout scene 7 minutes into the pilot no less.
• Jerkass Woobie: Lukas. While his struggle with intenalized homophobia and PTSD makes him sympathetic, he doesn't treat Philip very kindly until the 7th episode.
• Love Martyr: Philip goes to great lengths to keep Lukas’s secret, and suffers quite a bit for it.
• Memetic Mutation: A Tumblr fandom meme that's not exclusive to this show is taking an I "Uh" You, Too line of dialogue and putting it in this format:

  • Lukas has one of these lines at least Once an Episode, with Philip joining in after Episode 7.
• Portmanteau Couple Name: "Philkas" is the official ship name for Philip and Lukas, coined by the actors themselves. Some fans however, lean towards "Waldenshea."
