YMMV / Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy

  • Cliché Storm: A point of criticism towards the special is that it's not really original not only for the franchise, but for other animated specials at the time.
  • Funny Moments:
    • While being chased by hungry demons is far from funny to the boys, Puck can't help but quip:
Goku Jr.: I can't go across. I'm scared of heights.
Puck: Well, I'm scared of pretty blue man-eating she-demons with butcher knives! So, let's go!
    • At some point in the film, Goku Jr. moons the bad guys while running from them.
    • Two of the demons actually take the time to flirt while chasing down Goku Jr.
Mamba: Heh heh heh. Don't act so surprised. You butchered my hair! I had to track you down and kill you. So sorry!
Torga: But Mamba, you look ravishing that way.
Susha: (Goku Jr. takes his chance to escape) Hey you two lovebirds! He's getting away!
    • Goku Sr. shows up and introduces himself as Goku Jr.'s great-great-... grandpa, but quickly gets confused on how many greats there are.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • In a way, the meeting between Goku Jr. and Goku Sr. near the end of the special.
Goku: It wasn't the Dragon Ball Goku. It was your courage and love that opened the right doors, you did it by yourself. I'm proud of you grandson.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Goku Jr. is initially portrayed as a meek child who is constantly picked on by the bullies at his school. Dragonball Evolution portrays Goku Sr. as a meek teenager who is constantly picked on by the bullies at his school.
  • Moment of Awesome:
    • The moment Goku Jr. first stands up to the kids bullying him, really it wasn't a good idea for them to mention his ill grandmother.
Goku Jr.: Get out of my way.
      Blonde Bully: Make us!
      Short Bully: Yeah!
Goku Jr.: (gives off sparks that leave both boys quivering in fear)
    • When Goku Jr. becomes a Super Saiyan for the first time.
Goku Jr.: Put him down! (shouts in anger and transforms) I can't let you hurt my friends. Lord Yao, your reign is over!
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Old lady Pan from the TV special, due to having out-grown her whininess from the main series.
