• I Knew It!: After three years of fan speculation, this episode finally bites the bullet and makes it clear that Yaz does indeed have a crush on the Doctor.
• The Scrappy: Online reviewers, especially the ones on YouTube, did not hold back on how they disliked Nick, highlighting that, rather than the endearing weirdo the episode tries to make him out to be, he comes across more of a creep that has been stalking Sarah, even while in relationships with other girls, and how him keeping their belongings in storage after their break-ups is more akin to a serial killer than a charming Dogged Nice Guy.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The episode tries to play Nick off as a Dogged Nice Guy who has loyally come to ELF Storage every New Year's Eve to store his ex-girlfriend's stuff due to schoolboy crush on Sarah. However, as Lampshaded by Sarah, Nick comes off more as a Stalker with a Crush with a creepy obsession of collecting things from his relationships.
• The Woobie: Sarah has to contend with managing a business she accidently inherited from a deceased uncle, that she makes clear that she doesn't even like, while working with an employee that disrespects and disobeys her as he pleases and having to work on New Year's Eve due to a single client making an annual visit that she later learns is due to a crush he has on her. In these respects, her lashing out at Nick comes across less as a Kick the Dog moment and more of her reaching her Rage Breaking Point.
