YMMV / Deathstalker II: Duel of the Titans

  • Narm: Any time Monique Gabrielle tries to act as Evie. She's clearly very inexperienced, and with the awkward way she delivers several of her lines, she ends up in a hilarious halfway point between looking like she's trying too hard to act and not trying enough.
  • Narm Charm: The movie basically runs on being as cheesy as possible. John Terlesky, in particular, doesn't even try to act serious at all, yet the movie benefits from his lackadaisical performance, and despite Monique Gabrielle being a pretty bad actress, the two leads share great chemistry (they were actually a couple in real life at the time) that makes the ride all the more enjoyable.
  • Periphery Demographic: While intended as a cheap B-movie crowd-pleaser, the film gained a near-cult following in TTRPG circles due to being easily mistaken for a fan movie based on someone's tongue-in-cheek campaign.
  • So Bad, It's Good: The entire film is a goofy parody of fantasy adventure films, including its own predecessor, features some very crummy acting, bizarre scenes and silly premises, but it's still a very enjoyable watch, helped by how unlike the other films of the series, the creators went in knowing they were making a lighthearted cheesefest and embracing it.
  • Special Effects Failure: Many of the special effects are typical low-budget B-movie fare, but perhaps the most egregious instance is the close-up on Evil Evie's hand as it momentarily disappears, which is blatantly just repeated hard-cuts of two different shots of her hand being in/off camera. According to the commentary, there was supposed to be a more natural dissolve effect, but they couldn't afford it.
