  • Awesome Music: The game does feature some nice tunes.
    • The Battle. A good song for what turns into a one-on-one fight with most enemies.
    • Lonesome Soldier - Theme of Garian plays during many areas of Jailer's Island, befitting Garian's journey.
    • Deadman's Castle, a heroic theme befitting Garian's adventurous journey through the largest castle in the game.
    • Presentiment Clock Tower plays for the Silver Castle, the game's largest platforming obstacle course. It perfectly sets the mood for the finale of Parallel 2 as you chase Kurt to the top of the castle for the final confrontation.
    • Decisive Battle plays for the final boss battle in Parallels 1, 2 and 5.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: For some players, the FMV featuring Garian and Kay that plays in the climax of Parallel 2 comes out of nowhere and feels very out of place in an otherwise dramatic scene. It also appears as the ending of Parallel 5, showing another possible life for Garian, which makes a bit more sense given the context.
  • Game-Breaker: Invoked with Kay in parallel 4. Stronger, faster and with better defense than any other character you could have at that point or get after it, and she can easily carry you through the rest of the game. Her guard-breaker is a backflip that you can spam, and while not invincible, the damage you deliver is more than you receive. Her knockdown attack is a bit iffy, meaning it's slightly harder to capture with her, but you don't really need to capture anyone else at that point.
  • Good Bad Bugs:
    • If you ask Jack to heal you for 20 points when you have between 10 and 19 points remaining, the action goes through and you end up with over four million points. To put that into perspective, it costs a total of 11600 points to increase Garian's health to the maximum of 200, from the starting point of 80. Upgrades are bought in 10-HP chunks, starting at 500 points and increasing with 100 points each time, and without using the glitch, in a normal playthrough you'd maybe get enough points to get over 100 HP. Gaining any points after the glitch has been triggered sets your point total to the normal maximum of "only" 999999.
    • During either section where you have to carry someone with you, getting into battle while carrying them results in them being affixed to your character's head during battle, with hilarious results. It's very possible to go into battle as a giant cyborg bear with a unconscious lizardman attached to its head.
    • Bilan will flash and take extra damage when he's attacked from behind. Due to a glitch, the same effect can be achieved if Garian or a captured enemy is facing away from Bilan and initiate a back attack, which is much quicker and easier to perform than trying to attack him from behind.
    • If Garian uses BIOS to fight against Doc in Parallels 1 and 2, the capture chance window will open anytime he's knocked down, allowing you to snag him and end the fight within the first round.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: It's hard not to be amused by the quacking noise J.J. makes whenever he talks.
  • Narm:
    • Characters welding axes, such as the Commander and especially Orion, use underswings in their attacks which look rather odd.
    • In some scenes, characters will make their exit by simply flying upward off the screen while in their standing sprite.
  • Scrappy Mechanic:
    • The Fighting Game-style battle system is a common complaint for having very basic combat, lacking depth and being monotonous, although some believe it was also a fun and simple change of pace compared to other games of the genre.
    • The minecart sections. Heavily pixelated textures, awkward camara angles that make the holes in the track difficult to see and react to, jumps require total precision, and each section needs to be completed entirely in one go. Thankfully there's only one in Parallels 2 and 3.
  • Special Effects Failure: Polygon Drizzit doesn't have his head attached to his body.
  • That One Level:
    • Silver Castle, in parallel 2 and 4 (in 1, you go through another part of it, and 3 ends in the execution chamber right before). Moving, floating platforms above a bottomless pit, several small platforms, and there's even a few leaps of faith required! And in Parallel 4, you have a timer!
    • Not to mention the minecart when you ride it in parallels 2 and 3. Awkward camera angles give you very little time to react to a few of the jumps.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Garian's bounty hunter friends first seen in the game's opening. Although they are central in Parallel 4 as Garian races to save each of them from the released prisoners, they have minimal dialogue and are not given much if any characterization at all.
