- Alternate Character Interpretation:
- It is very easy to interpret Catherine as the villain of the story who exploits and ultimately destroys a vulnerable and troubled young woman.
- Some interpret Chloe as a Yandere, and we never do see what happens off screen when David is flirting with the woman in the beginning. He'd have to play the waiting game somehow.
- Best Known for the Fanservice: The most that many people seem to know the film for is Amanda Seyfried and Julianne Moore's lesbian sex scene.
- Fan-Preferred Couple: The film ends with Catherine reconfirming her love with her husband David, but next to no fans ship her with him. Instead, most fans ship her with the titular Chloe, who becomes obsessively in love with Cathrine, due to them finding Chloe sympathetic and feeling that they have better chemistry.
- Mind Game Ship: Catherine and Chloe, depending on who's the better manipulator and who's the victim. Both are good at playing mind games, both are good at manipulating events and people around them.
