- Alternate Character Interpretation: What is behind Coco's tears after Lyell finds her notebook in the True Ending? Are these tears of joy now that she found her precious item? Or is she feeling upset now that she knows she was Dead All Along?
- Esoteric Happy Ending: The True Ending. Sure, Coco got her notebook back, but in the end she's still dead (and her murderers got away with it), Lyell's grandfather is still traumatized over her death and Lyell has changed into a much less colorful person than he was when he was young.
- Overshadowed by Controversy: The game is more well-known for its creator enforcing No Export for You by constantly taking down unofficial translations than the actual story.
- Moe: Young Lyell is adorable. Also, Coco despite her quiet attitude and Dull Eyes of Unhappiness.
- The Woobie:
- Lyell's grandfather. Not only he loses his best friend after she falls inside the well due to a prank gone wrong, he finds out years later that she's a ghost haunting the now abandoned mansion. It's also implied he's dead by the time adult Lyell returns to the mansion.
- Coco. Unloved by her family and unable to fit in high class society, she dies after a prank goes horribly wrong.
