- Fan Nickname: "The Air-Humping Clown" for Boomer, due to his unfortunate character select animation being pointed out by Stuttering Craig in his Video Game Vault review of the game.
- Memetic Mutation:
- The fan nickname "The Air-Humping Clown" of Boomer.
- The SNES opening theme is infamous for repeatedly sampling Divine's damage SFX, which sound bizarrely orgasmic. "Ballz" being repeated also doesn't help.
- Polished Port: The 3DO Director's Cut, which pumps up the graphics and adds an all new CD soundtrack to the game. It's, for many players, the best version of the game.
- So Bad, It's Good: Ballz is mainly remembered for its odd tone, which ranges from irreverent and juvenile to just plain bizarre, than the unremarkable button-mashing gameplay. For others that look past the odd tone, they find Ballz to be an uncontrollable and slow-paced fighting game.
- Visual Effects of Awesome: The gameplay is a pretty mediocre button mashing affair, but the pseudo 3D sprites for the characters are quite impressive and well animated, even more so on the 3DO port.
