• Awesome Moments:
  • Cora, an ordinary human with no combat ability, beats Obelus half to death with a shovel. For reference, Obelus is a bio-synthetic alien the size of a Cadillac, from the military caste of an interstellar empire, armed with weaponry that can disintegrate the walls of the world's strongest bunker in less than a second. Cora would have killed him right then and there if Ampersand didn't intervene.
  • Even though she's prevented from personally bashing Obelus's brains in, she still brings about his death by telling his subordinates about his Fremdan genetics and his relationship with Ampersand, leading to the subordinates tearing Obelus apart.
  • In a way, Cora's similar to her dad after all. How does she defeat the bad guy? By leaking classified information.
• Funny Moments:
  • Every single URL in the book is a Rickroll. Yes, every. Single. One.
  • In the military bunker, the beds are described as having a "baby-poo brown" color.
• Jerkass Woobie: Ampersand is certainly a Manipulative Bastard who isn't afraid to Kick the Dog from time to time, but he's dealing with a lot of trauma and is stranded on what he perceives as a terrifying Death World for the foreseeable future. This plus his genuine soft spot for Cora keeps him sympathetic.
