- Be Careful What You Wish For: Rouge wishes for someone to stomp her, and nearly gets stomped by the giant Sonic.
- Clothing Damage: Veldon's lab coat, it gets burnt during his death before his subsequent revival and continued wearing it.
- Crazy Jealous Guy: Veldon believes Sonic is after Melanie's affection, him being a hedgehog as well, but is reassured that he is just her cousin.
- Gravity Is a Harsh Mistress: Veldon and Patch when they flee Dearbuss.
- Healing Hands: Dearbuss touches Veldon to revive him.
- Insufferable Genius: Veldon the Hyena.
- Senseless Sacrifice: Veldon puts himself in Redcall's line of fire to protect Melanie at the cost of his life. He is later revived by Dearbuss.
