The Mega64 Interactive Hell Festivals are annual live events hosted by the titular comedy troupe, Mega64. As the name implies, the Interactive Hell Festivals are Halloween live streams hosted on Twitch in which the Mega64 crew do various Halloween themed activities, such as playing horror games, react to lost and obscure Halloween tv shows and movies and go to Halloween carnivals. Sounds pretty standard all things considered.

Well, that’s where the “Hell” part comes into play. In every single festival (with the exception of 2023, where the general show is hijacked from a VHS Christmas special to a haunted one hosted by Howlin' Howard), the standard activities are interrupted by a spirit from Hell who takes the crew down to Hell to perform their devious tasks in order to break free from the afterlife (spoiler alert: They never make it out in any Hell Festival. Since they outright lose their channel to Corpsey McDeadman and Dark Lord Mark McGrath aka Satan, this formula seems to be retired).

So far, there have been 4 Hell Festivals:

Wait, have you seen my Tropes?

  • Another Dimension: What Hell is portrayed as.
  • As Himself: Whilst there are several original characters created for this series specifically, the Mega64 crew themselves (consisting of Rocco Botte, Shawn Chatfield, Derek Acosta and Garrett Hunter respectively) play themselves.
  • Big Bad: Each and every Hell Fest has a character that served as the main source of conflict in their respective festivals:
    • The 2020 Hell Festival had the Jizz Ghost, who sent the Mega64 crew to Hell in order to find his keys.
    • The 2021 Hell Festival had the Haunted Wii, who seeked to torture the Mega64 crew and steal their souls.
    • The 2022 Hell Festival had a Big Bad Ensemble with Corpsey McDeadman and Satan (who is really Mark McGrath) with the latter being the one needed to be entertained in order to escape Hell and the former being the one who sent them to Hell and took over their channel in the first place.
    • The 2023 Hell Festival subverts this trope by being in the form of a radio show hosted by Howlin’ Howard, who doesn’t antagonise the Mega64 crew in any shape or form. Despite this, he still serves as the Smarmy Host of the live stream.
  • Hell: The main setting of the “Hell Festivals”. It’s literally in the name, I mean come on!
  • Smarmy Host: Every single Hell Festival has at least one of these, announcing the segments of the live stream. They also tend to serve as the Big Bad of the respective live stream they host. The most prominent example is Corpsey McDeadman, who is extremely sarcastic and rude.
