If Things Were People is a YouTube video series created by Frank James.

As the title suggests, the videos depict Frank playing various anthropomorphic personifications of things belonging to the same group, such as months, numbers and social media platforms.

The full series can be viewed here.

If Things Were People provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Bearer of Bad News: January tells the other months that they were given 365 days to split between themselves and no one is happy about it.
  • Cool Shades:
    • Fitting for a summer month, June has them.
    • D also has them.
  • The Eeyore: December is depressed and pessimistic because, to quote May:
May: He's a little depressed, he is the darkest month of the year after all.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: July demands to have 31 days because he feels entitled to them in a derisive manner, but he's also the one to nominate February to get the extra day because he sees him as noble.
  • The Leader: As the first in their groups, January and A play this role to the months and the letters.
  • Insufferable Genius: September has glasses and seems to be intellectual, but January finds him annoying to the point of taking a day off him.
  • Nice Guy: February volunteers to give up two days out of the goodness of his heart. The other months agree that he is noble enough to get the extra day every fourth year.
  • No, You: When April complains about the indivisibility of 365 days:
    April: This is so unprofessional.
    January: Your attitude is unprofessional.
    April: (scoffs)
  • The Slacker: June happily takes 30 days just to avoid getting extra work.
  • Third-Person Person: D loves referring to himself as the D.
