Flags in Focus is a YouTube channel dedicated to short, educational videos on flags. It was originally called Flags in 50 Seconds and featured 50 second videos on flags. It has since expanded to wider content, changing its name to Flags in 50 and later Flags in Focus.

The channel is hosted by Tareth Peacock. Tareth also is part of the vexillology podcast A Kiwi, Two Brits, and a Yank. Flags in Focus can be found here.

Tropes:

  • Artifact Title: The title Flags in 50 took its name from how episodes were originally 50 seconds long. However, episodes later on started being longer than 50 seconds, making the title no longer relevant. This is why Tareth put out a competition to rename his channel and changed the name to Flags in Focus.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Early videos in the channel were all 50 seconds long, but it now releases videos of various lengths.
  • Easter Egg: Eric Hart says that the design of the Syracuse flag contains an Easter egg in that the way the colors are wrapped look like a kimono, due to him living in Japan.
  • Edutainment: Flags in Focus creates content that is educational about flags while also being entertaining.
  • Fictional Flag:
    • The flag representing Flags in Focus is a white flag with a black outline of a circle with a small flag inside of it.
    • Tareth has held flag design competitions to make fictional flags such as the Big Baltic Bonanza.
  • Flag Drop: Eric Hart has an image of the Syracuse flag behind him in the episode on that flag.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Take That!: The videos feature many jabs at badly designed flags, such as seal on bedsheet state flags.
