Ancient Ruins
The Ancient Ruins warp system still works even though the Ruins are, well, ruined, is because the activation method using five quantum plorts was originally only meant for emergencies. The Ruins used to work using extracted slime from the slime sea, hence the many pipes, outlets and basins in it. The echoes are the leaked concentrated slime essence. The reason quantum slimes only appear in the Ruins is because they were all caught by whoever built the Ruins and kept in basins, because the warp system required a large amount of quantum essence. The emergency system, which is what you use in-game to go to the Glass Desert, was built to be used if the Ruins ever did not work anymore. It is not as precise, and therefore only leads to one location; the Glass Desert, which used to be lush.

Possible new additions
Because the game became so popular so quickly, of course more stuff is going to be added in future.
  • More prey animals, such as pigs, rabbits, and/or even tiny cows
  • More hostile creatures than the Tarr to present a tiny bit of a challenge
  • More areas of the planet to explore
  • More slime variations, or course
  • Actual artifacts that can be sold
  • More weather effects, particularly rain. Hobson's note in the Lab remarks he would tinker with gadgets on a rainy day.
    • Rain would probably cause the expected effects: Tarr will slowly be damaged, Puddle Slimes produce plorts more frequently and Fire Slimes produce less, crops and trees open to the sky grow food faster, slime agitation is reduced as if being splashed with water, etc.
  • Additional features to increase the replay value after clearing the game in Adventure and Casual mode.

    • More Areas and More Slimes made it into the Sequel. Jury's out on anything else, since the game is still in Early Access.

The Slime Sea can warp other living things, not just slimes, but it's more limited and it comes at a huge physical toll.
According to the Slimepedia, it's theorized that the slimes use the slime sea as a means of transportation, but anything else will sink to the bottom. However, if you apparently just sink to the bottom, how do you wake up later at home? Answer: It actually warps you too, but it takes so much out of you that you have to rest for a long time before you can do anything else.
  • An alternative, more heartwarming idea based on this is that the slimes in the Slime Sea actually rescue you before you drown, knowing where your ranch house is to return you there.

Saber Slimes went extinct because their favored food source did first.
They were originally as picky as Gold Slimes, unable to eat anything but their absolute favorite, presumably a type of chicken. For whatever reason(new slimes coming in an eating them all, a Tarr outbreak, a natural disaster, etc.) said chicken went extinct. Pure Saber Slimes starved to death, but those that were willing to eat a plort to expand their diet survived to inhabit the Wilds.
  • Jossed, both purebred Saber Slimes and their prey (Thundercluck Hens) are doing just fine in the Powderfall Bluffs.
