Baby Chef is the son of the original Swedish Chef
Since Statler and Waldorf are still at their original ages (a.k.a old farts) in this series, it can be assumed that Muppet Babies takes place in an Alternate Universe compared to the mainline series. So, what hints are there that this Chef isn't quite who he seems to be?
- In the background of some scenes, a picture of a baby Chef is seen with a noticeably different design from Baby Chef in-person. This is possibly the original Chef as a youngster.
- Some of Baby Chef's physical traits are slightly different, such as having red hair and felt hands instead of brown hair and real hands; traits that could be inherited from the original Chef's unseen wife.
- Baby Chef's speech is more often a more gibbered English than Mock Swedish; being the son of an immigrant, he could be bilingual.
- The only mention of Sweden is in "The Muppet Babies Show", referring to the food rather than Chef himself; of course, because this Chef was likely born in the US, and "Swedish-American Chef" doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well.
