Build aquariums, grow fish, develop your business!
Aquarist is a virtual pet/career simulation game developed by FreeMind, published by PlayWay, and released to Early Access on March 8, 2022.

In the game, the player takes on the role of an Aquarist. Owning an aquarium store and gallery, you must build and maintain aquariums for customers along with making a pleasant experience for customers that enter the store to view aquariums. The game has a central focus not just on building realistic aquariums, but also on running the gallery as a business.

Aquarist contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Edutainment Game: The game has a heavy element centered around learning about the different types of fish the player can use, and how to best ensure their survival when placed in a tank.
  • An Entrepreneur Is You: Once you get to open an aquarium shop, half of the work you must do revolves around keeping the shop running. This means keeping customers satisfied enough to return and also making sure the store is profitably operating.
  • Excuse Plot: In Career Mode, you are a young and budding aquarist that just wants to learn how to build aquariums and begin with your first home aquarium. You want to live up to the ultimate goal of becoming an oceanarium keeper.
  • Unexpectedly Realistic Gameplay: When building aquariums, care must be taken to build aquariums that ensure the survival of every fish in the tank. In addition, the player must run the store with all of the necessary business responsibilities in mind. They must get customer orders completed in time as well as maintain a steady flow of revenue to make sure that the store is running profitably and can afford to pay its expenses.
  • Wide-Open Sandbox: Creative Mode simply allows the player to build aquariums themselves without the specifications set by customers.
  • Work Info Title: You are working as an aquarist and you have the job duties of building and maintaining aquariums as the owner of an aquarium store.
