For the NBC game show:

  • Hey, It's That Sound!: The sound of the clock spinning in As Time Goes By would be reused on sister show Sale of the Century later that year as the noise for the Fame Game randomizer (when they went from having the contestants just picking a number, to them stopping the randomizers with their buzzers a la Press Your Luck.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The show hasn't been seen in reruns at all- only 13 episodes are on YouTube and the trading circuit as of this writing (out of 80 in total), most from the second format. Here's hoping Buzzr (owned by Fremantle, successor to Reg Grundy Productions) will dig them up some day.
  • Prop Recycling: The second format saw the introduction of a new game, On The Button. It used Sweet Sixteen's set pieces, with the 1-16 lights covered up and a new logo in the same font as the original game.
    • A home viewer contest was held during the second format; they used one of the jukeboxes from Jukebox Game to hold postcards.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: Part of the reason this show hasn't been rerun may lie in the songs used in certain parts of the game, which would likely require legal clearances.
