  • Nancy Cartwright told The Chicago Tribune that this, and "Lisa's Substitute" from season two, are her two favorite episodes.
• Edited for Syndication:
  • During an FXX rerun of this episode on January 25, 2016, during the scene where everyone is yelling at Bart outside his house, it suddenly cuts to a black screen, then it goes to a commercial break. Whenever it comes back, it goes back to the part when it happened, and it did it again. When it did once again, it went to a FXX ident, but it went to a black screen again, causing it to go to a different Simpsons episode. The reason why this happened is unknown, though it can be assumed that this was a technical gaffe that has since been fixed.
  • Meanwhile, in syndication one scene IS cut: the part where Homer and Marge watch Bart get ready for his dinner with the Lovejoys (and a sentimental Homer begins singing several songs before finally breaking down at Louis Prima's 'Yes, We Have No Bananas'.)
• First Appearance: Of Jessica Lovejoy.
• So My Kids Can Watch: Nancy Cartwright said in an interview with The Pantagraph that she really wanted Meryl Streep's autograph, but was afraid to ask for it. After the recording session, Streep tapped Cartwright on the shoulder, and said her kids were big fans and that she would be in "big trouble" if she did not get Cartwright's autograph.
