• Fake Nationality: Irishman Brendan Gleeson plays a Newfounlander.
• Only So Many Canadian Actors: With an added wrinkle in that there are only so many Newfoundlander actors and comedians in Canada, so they had to bring in an Irishman to play the lead. The film features three cast members (at the time, two regular, one recurring) from This Hour Has 22 Minutes, as well as a few who've appeared on Republic of Doyle.
• What Could Have Been: Robin Williams was considered to star in the film, but scheduling conflicts prevented that from happening.
