- Fake Brit: Croatian-born Rade Šerbedžija plays the British conductor Simon McCullough in the U.S. remake.
- Talent Double: The 2008 U.S. version features violinist Mark Robertson playing Sydney's violin parts.
- Trend Killer: The US remake of this, as well as those of One Missed Call and Shutter, marked the end of the trend of J-horror remakes. Attempts to relaunch the trend have all failed.
